Video-on-demand vendor SeaChange International will hook up with interactive TV developer BIAP and operational support systems provider Sigma Systems, using the SCTE 130 standard for addressable advertising.
Next week at Cable Show '09 in Washington, D.C., SeaChange will show its Spot 5.0 ad-management system connecting directly to BIAP's AdAim Targeting Engine, which uses CableLabs's Enhanced Binary Interchange Format spec to enable ad targeting on existing set-tops.
The interoperability between the two systems ensures that cable set-top boxes tune to appropriate advertisements based on predetermined demographic, geographic and other targeting information, according to SeaChange.
In addition, SeaChange is working with Sigma Systems to provide access from ad-insertion systems to Sigma's subscriber-information databases for making ad placement decisions on the fly, in accordance with SCTE 130 Part 6 guidelines.
"SeaChange is aggressively working to help get cable operators up and running with advanced advertising by employing industry standards such as SCTE-130 and EBIF," SeaChange vice president of product marketing Alan Hoff said in a statement.
SeaChange said the integration between its AdPulse On Demand software and Sigma's Subscriber Information Service will be demonstrated for the first time in June, at CableLabs's next SCTE 130 interop event.
