Some Cable One employees are among the thousands of Fargo, N.D., area residents who have evacuated their homes amid the serious threat of flooding by the Red River.
The Phoenix-based cable operator serves Fargo, West Fargo and Moorhead, across the river, where news reports indicate thousands of households have been evacuated. Melany Stroupe, a Cable One communications director, said the local operation's office was closed as workers volunteered to fill sandbags and take other actions to save their own homes and their neighbors'.
Stroupe said an estimated five to 10 local workers were evacuated. "So far, our service is still running," she said Friday afternoon. Cable One has about 100 employees in the Fargo area, where it serves about 40,000 customers.
