ZillionTV Pacts With Weinsteins

Internet-TV Startup Signs Distribution Deal With Movie Studio

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 3/30/2009 12:55:52 PM

Startup ZillionTV, which is developing a free entertainment service tied to an Internet-based set-top box, announced a content-distribution agreement with The Weinstein Co.

With the Weinstein deal, ZillionTV this year will offer films including Soul Men, Vicky Cristina Barcelona, The Reader and Zack and Miri Make a Porno.

Sunnyvale, Calif.-based ZillionTV is aiming to launch with service-provider partners in the fourth quarter of 2009, designed to provide upward of 15,000 on-demand titles. The service will include targeted, interactive ads and an array of personalization features.

ZillionTV already has agreements to carry content from Disney-ABC Domestic Television, 20th Century Fox Television, NBC Universal, Sony Pictures Television and Warner Bros., which have each invested in the company.

To date the startup claimed it has assembled a lineup of 40 TV and movie content partners.
