Consulting firm Acumen Solutions launched "Cable in the Cloud," a program for the cable industry that provides sales and service business support systems over the Internet.

The Vienna, Va.-based company specializes in integrating Salesforce.com's customer relationship management service with cable operators' legacy sales, billing, operations support systems and other key enterprise systems.

Acumen said it has completed enterprise-class cloud computing projects at three of the top five U.S.cable companies.

The Cable in the Cloud program focuses on optimizing sales, marketing, and CRM operations, improving customer service, reducing the cost of sales and designing forward-looking information-technology road maps.

"Cloud computing solutions don't require capital expenditures and can be more quickly customized and deployed than legacy client/server infrastructure," Salesforce.com CMO Kendall Collins said in a statement.

On top of the Salesforce.com platform, Acumen provides strategic services such as solution roadmaps, business-process engineering, vendor evaluation, implementation and training for enterprise-wide rollouts.

List pricing for Salesforce CRM starts at $10 per user per month up to $250 per user per month, depending on the version. Acumen charges a separate project fee in addition to that.
