Comedy Central has signed comedian Nick Swardson to shoot a one-hour stand-up special that will air on the network this fall.
The stand-up event will tape April 10 at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas and be released on Comedy Central Home Entertainment after it airs on the linear channel.
This will be the third Comedy Central stand-up gig for Swardson, who has made many appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and The Late Show with David Letterman. His first in 2000 at the age of 22 made him the youngest ever to do so on the service and was followed by a second in 2006. He is well-know for his recurring role as "Terry," on the network's Reno 911! and his scripted animated pilot, Gay Robot, produced by Happy Madison and Sony TV, is under consideration for pick-up on the network.
"Nick is the real deal," said Elizabeth Porter, senior vice president, specials and talent at Comedy Central, in a statement. "We're all such big fans of his and we're so excited he's doing his first one-hour special for us. e's the guy our audience wants to see and after two great half-hour specials with us and his successful CD "party" on our label, I have no doubt this hour will be huge."
