Now, the outsized Charles Barkley will have his own channel.
The basketball Hall of Famer and TNT hoops analyst will have his own video channel, The Barkley Zone, as part of NBA.com's coverage of the 2009 playoffs.
Launching April 16, The Barkley Zone, one of five new video channels to be showcased on NBA.com, will feature exclusive images of the analyst throughout the postseason. The Barkley Zone will include video content such as "Soundoff," with Barkley speaking his mind on a variety of topics, and "Where They Been?," where he catches up with former teammates to find out about their post-NBA lives, beginning with former Phoenix Suns teammate and current Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson.
The new playoff-centric design also features highlights the extensive video content available from four other channels, Highlights, Top Plays, NBA TV and TNT OverTime.
In addition, NBA.com is also launching new playoff match-up pages that will make it easier than ever for fans to follow their favorite teams, with a page dedicated to providing news, highlights, press conferences, stats and video previews to the next game from TNT and NBA TV analysts.
"Charles is a larger than life personality and one of the most popular broadcasters in sports television," said Bryan Perez, senior vice president and general manager of NBA Digital in a statement. "Our goal is to always offer the fan the most compelling video content across all our digital platforms and Charles is the perfect fit to lead the way for our playoff site with a channel of his own."
