Dish Network continued to expand its roster of international services with the addition of Punjabi TV and Aghapy TV.
The former focuses on entertainment programming for the Punjabi-speaking community, while the latter marks the first Egyptian Coptic Orthodox channel available in the U.S., according to officials at the DBS provider.
Deal terms were not disclosed.
Aghapy TV, available on Dish's channel 775, addresses the history of the liturgy, theology and worship of the Coptic Orthodox culture, while also focusing on the spiritual philosophy of the Coptic Orthodox Church. The channel is available a la carte for $4.99 per month for those who subscribe to any Arabic language programming package.
"Aghapy TV is proud to have its channel broadcast through Dish Network, as it will make its programs available to a large number of viewers who are so eager to watch Aghapy TV," said Bishop Botros, founder and director of Aghapy TV, in a statement. "We are looking forward to a strong partnership with Dish Network in this historical endeavor."
For its part, Punjabi TV proffers extensive coverage of all aspects of the Punjabi culture -- from soap operas and reality shows to sitcoms, movies and live events. The channel is available a la carte for $14.99 per month or as part of the four-channel Punjabi Pack that costs $19.99 monthly.
"Punjjabi TV is not just another entertainment channel in Punjabi language," said Dheeraj Kapuria, CEO of World Media Connect, in a statement. "It is a sustained and determined effort to reach out and touch the core values and ethos of the Punjabi demographic across the world."
