VH1, ramping up its reality roster, has renewed five shows, and greenlit another.
The network today announced orders for second seasons of I Want To Work For Diddy (fall premiere), Brooke Knows Best (this spring), Gotti's Way 2 and Tool Academy (Aug. 2). Moreover, the MTV Network service has added a third season of Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew (fall debut).
Speaking of Dr. Drew Pinsky, VH1, in a spinoff, will explore the world of sex addiction with Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew. The show also is set to debut this fall.
"VH1 is riding high on its most successful wave of original hit programming yet. We launched more new hit series than any other cable network in the first quarter of 2009," said VH1 executive vice president, original programming and production Jeff Olde in a statement. "Much of our momentum can be credited to many of the franchises and talent that we're renewing today. These upcoming projects will continue to set the mark for reality television while connecting with some of the most loyal viewers in all of television."
VH1, which has rung up solid Nielsens with such reality series as Rock of Love Bus with Bret Michaels, I Love Money 2, VH1's Tough Love, Sober House and For The Love of Ray J, soon will bring back one of its most popular reality stars in Tiffany Pollard, better known as New York. New York Goes To Work bows May 4 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), serving as a lead-in for Gotti's Way 2 at 10:30 p.m. that night.
