FiOS Is Latest To Reach Univision Retransmission Pact
Multiyear Deal Also Covers National Feeds For TeleFutura, Galavision, Stations

Continuing its run of retransmission-consent deals, Univision Communications Inc. has reached a multiyear deal with Verizon's FiOS TV.
Under the agreement, FiOS will continue to carry the network feeds of Univision and broadcast brethren TeleFutura, as well as cable network Galavision. Moreover, the pact provides for continued distribution of Univision's owned-and-operated broadcast stations, as well as affiliated stations owned and run by Entravision Communications Corp. and Fisher Communications, Inc.
Deal terms were not disclosed, but the U.S. Spanish-language media leader has been seeking cash compensation in exchange for retransmission consent.
The FiOS agreement is the latest for Univision, which has inked deals this year with Comcast, DirecTV, AT&T U-Verse and Insight Communications.
On April 1, Univision also scored retransmission-consent accords with the No. 2 cable operator Time Warner Cable and second-ranked DBS provider Dish Network.
All told, Univision officials say the company has scored agreements with 50 other smaller distributors.
Sources indicate that Univision is currently in retranmission-consent negotiation with the New York DMA's predominant cable operator, Cablevision Systems Corp.
