Motorola WiMax Gear Certified
Pair Of Broadband-Wireless Modems, One Access Point Gain Approval

Motorola has received certification from the WiMax Forum industry consortium for two broadband-wireless modems and one access point that operate in the 2.5-GHz band.
On the consumer-premises equipment front, the WiMax Forum approved Motorola's CPEi 25150 data-only modem and CPEi 25750 data and voice-over-IP modem, both desktop products designed for homes or offices to connect to a WiMax network to deliver high-speed broadband access.
Motorola's WiMax Access Point 25600 solution also was certified; its WAP 25400 was certified in June 2008.
In the U.S., Clearwire -- whose investors include Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Sprint Nextel, Google and Intel -- is embarking on what is planned to be a nationwide rollout of WiMax service, operating in the 2.5-2.7 GHz band.
The company has about 18,000 cell towers in development nationwide, and intends to be up and running in around 80 markets by the end of 2010.
