FiOS TV Available To More Than 1 Million California Homes

Verizon Offers Service In 83 Cities In Golden State

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 4/30/2009 11:11:25 AM

Verizon Communications now offers FiOS TV to more than 1 million households in 83 cities in Southern California.

The telco has increased the availability of FiOS TV in the state by an average of 26,000 homes per month since first launching the service in California in Beaumont in February 2006.

Verizon said it is continuing to expand the availability of FiOS TV throughout Southern California. The company in 2008 spent more than $715 million on its fiber-optic and copper networks in the state.

FiOS TV in California now provides more than 600 channels of programming, including 114 HD channels.

On Monday, as part of announcing first-quarter earnings, Verizon reported 2.217 million FiOS TV customers nationwide

Verizon this month launched a promotion -- targeted at cable customers -- pitching a FiOS triple-play package for $99 for new customers through June 20. The deal, which offers $150 cash back via a prepaid Visa debit card, requires a two-year commitment.
