Bright House Connects With YES ‘National' In Orlando

Operator's Central Florida Systems Launch RSN's Feed, Sans Yanks, Nets Games

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/1/2009 6:09:00 PM

Bright House Networks today launched YES Network's "national" feed on its systems in Orlando and throughout central Florida.

YES programming, save for New York Yankees Major League Baseball games and New Jersey Nets National Basketball Association contests and their respective encores, is now available to Bright House subscribers as part of its Sports Pack, which retails for $3.99 monthly, on channel 116.

Bright House customers can check out a host of Yankees-themed fare, as well as interview series Center Stage with host Michael Kay and Mike'D Up: Francesa on the FAN, a live weekday simulcast of Mike Francesa's top-rated WFAN sports talk radio show in New York.
The rollout in central Florida follows the debut of YES's national feed in April by Bright House in Tampa, home of the Yankees' training facility and spring training complex.

The launches emanate through a deal, terms of which were not disclosed, that YES reached with Time Warner Cable in late March. The nation's No. 2 cable operator, which negotiates programming deals for Bright House, is expected to launch YES national on its systems in North and South Carolina in late summer.

FiOS TV also began making YES national available to its subscribers in April.

Among the Yankees-oriented shows Bright House customers will see are: Yankees Batting Practice Today, bio series Yankeeography, the weekly manager series, The Joe Girardi Show, Yankees Magazine, Yankees Classics games, Yankees Hot Stove and the Emmy-winning kids show, Yankees on Deck.
Additional programming includes Forbes SportsMoney, a monthly half-hour program that takes swings at latest sports business news and trends; This Week in Football, a weekly studio show encapsulating all of the action around the NFL, with a particular focus on the New York Giants and Jets; and Nets Magazine, the weekly magazine show covering the NBA club.
Bright House customers receiving YES on the Sports Pack view the regional sports network's regular lineup, with other programming substituted during the Yankees and Nets game windows.
