Sci Fi Schedules Summer Slate
New York — It’s going to be a big summer for Sci Fi Channel.
The NBC Universal Cable network, which changes its moniker to Syfy on July 7, will kick off the traditional start of summer with a Memorial Day Land of the Lost marathon, tied to the upcoming Will Ferrell theatrical release based on the 1970s TV show.
Heading into Independence Day, Sci Fi will present its annual Twilight Zone marathon, from July 2 to July 4.
On the same day it’s rechristened, the network will debut its new series Warehouse 13, about Secret Service agents chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity.
Also on the scripted front, Eureka returns for season 3.5 starting July 10.
As for reality series, Ghost Hunters International returns July 8, before a new season of its forbearer Ghost Hunters bows on August 19.
Sci Fi will also unveil a quartet of telefilms: Malibu Shark Attack; High Plains Invaders; Hellhounds; and Sand Serpents.
IFC Unveils 2009-10 Plans
New York — IFC has taken the wraps off its 2009-10 programming slate.
New original series is Bollywood Hero bows in August, starring Chris Kattan as a washed-up actor who heads to India to star in a film.
Other shows on tap: Food Party, hosted by “punk-food” princess Thu Tran; Monty Python: Almost The Truth (The Lawyer’s Cut), a six-part series about the British comedy troupe; and reality series Dinner With the Band.
The network will also premiere its first original event telefilm, Laurel K. Hamilton’s Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter.
IFC has also acquired several series, including the sitcom Ideal, sketch show Wrong Door and The Jon Dore Television Show.
Returning series include The IFC Media Project, Z-Rock and The Whitest Kids U Know.
