SNY Auditioning ‘Kidcasters'

Contest Will Place Winner In RSN's New York Mets Broadcast Booth

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/5/2009 2:14:25 PM

Regional sports network SNY wants to be put a kid in its broadcast booth.

The TV home of Major League Baseball's New York Mets is holding a "Kidcaster" contest presented by New York's 529 College Savings Program Direct Plan. Open to youngsters ages of 7 and 15, the contest entails submitting an essay on their favorite Mets player. Ten contestants then will be chosen to come to SNY's street-level studio in Manhattan, where they will be asked to read their essays in front of a panel of SNY judges.
One winner will be chosen and join SNY's broadcast team -- Gary Cohen, Keith Hernandez and Ron Darling -- during a live Mets game. In addition, the runner-up in the Kidcaster contest will appear in an episode of the network's Emmy Award-winning Kids Clubhouse.
Other prizes include a VIP Family Experience to a 2009 Mets game, as well as SNY prize packs. The contest runs through May 20. For more information on how to enter, visit SNY.tv/NY529.
