FiOS TV Debuts Six HD Channels From Entertainment Studios

Verizon Launches Services to Add to 100-Plus National High-Def Count

Verizon Communications this week will launch six new high-definition channels from Byron Allen's Entertainment Studios, several months after the services were expected to debut.

The six new HD channels from Entertainment Studios -- Comedy.TV, Recipe.TV, ES.TV, MyDestination.TV, Cars.TV and Pets.TV -- will begin to launch in FiOS TV markets this week, adding to Verizon's 100-plus HD channel count.

Originally, Entertainment Studios expected the six made-for-HD channels to launch on FiOS TV before the end of 2008.

Allen, chairman and CEO of Entertainment Studios, said in a prepared statement that the launch on FiOS TV "gives us a great start."

Los Angeles-based Entertainment Studios produces, distributes and sells ads for 18 TV programs. Allen founded the company in 1993.
