Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 5/12/2009 3:43:00 PM

Discovery Channel wants to explore the Earth one continent at a time.

Teaming with Wild Horizons Ltd. and Keith Scholey, the former executive at the BBC's natural history unit, Discovery will embark on a seven-part documentary special examining the continents.
First up: North America. Production on Wild Planet: North America is set to commence this fall.
"Embarking a project of this magnitude is a jewel in the crown at Discovery Channel," said John Ford, president and general manager of Discovery Channel, in a statement. "Wild Planet: North America will highlight the sweeping beauty and majesty of the continent and its rich diversity. Having Keith at the helm is guaranteed to deliver a series that will ignite our viewers' passion for the world around them."
