MTV Plugs In 'Unplugged' Again With Adele
Music Performance Series Returns On The Web This Summer

MTV will resurrect its Unplugged music performance series on the Web this summer with a series of exclusive monthly performances.
Paramore and Kate Perry are among the artists that will be featured on the MTV unplugged site, www.unplugged.mtv.com. beginning in June, said Amy Doyle, executive vice president of music and talent for the network. Grammy Award winner Adele will kick off the series -- in which each artist will perform a six-song set in a stripped-down, intimate setting -- with a June 8 performance.
In July, indie rock band Silversun Pickups will make their Unplugged debut, according to the network. MTV viewers will also see some full-song and select clips from performances, along with behind-the-scenes footage. MTV2, mtvU, MTV Hits, MTV Jams and MTV Tr3s will also air select performances and footage.
A wide variety of musical legends and artists have performed on MTV Unplugged over the years since it launched on the music channel in 1989, including Nirvana, Jay-Z, The Cure, Shakira, Alicia Keys, Eric Clapton and Duran Duran. Overall, the network has aired more than 100 Unplugged specials.
"Unplugged has always been a fan and artist favorite and one of the more iconic MTV performance series ever," said Doyle. "By bringing the series to MTV.com, we're able to deliver it to a new generation of music fans and offer a greater level of access to their favorite musicians through performances, interviews and artist-chosen playlists - and it's all viewable on demand."
