Cable Positive's Denver Chapter has scheduled the next "Positively Cable" musical revue fundraiser for June 16 at The Comedy Works South.
The event, which has raised more than $1 million over its 17 years, shifted from its usual fall timing and is relocating to a comedy club in the Denver Tech Center from its past home, the Cable Center. Presented by Time Warner Cable, the theme this year is "Escape From the Planet of Mutant Broadband Hell." Song parodies will be presented, featuring help in the chorus from local cable volunteers.
In addition to Volunteers of America's Rainbow House, Cable Positive Denver has partnered with two new local organizations which support individuals who are affected by HIV/AIDS: The Colorado Aids Project and Sisters of Color United in Education. "We are very excited to be partnering with these new groups; they will bring new energy and friends to our Chapter," Stephanie Thibodeau, Positively Cable's 2009 co-chair, said in a release. "Meeting with these groups and seeing the drive they have and all they contribute to the community is inspiring."
More information, including songs performed in previous Positively Cable revues, is available at the chapter's Web site.
