Caught Up In HD Net Drop
(RE: Time Warner Dropping HD Net Channels Nationwide May 31, May 18): This is a tremendously short-sighted decision. I’ve spread the news to friends across the country — I only learned about it through a story on IMDB — and we’re all equally furious, particularly as the decision to dump HDNet seems to have been made just two weeks before it’s gone, thus reducing the amount of bad publicity TWC could get. So HDNet Movies — one of the prime reasons I bought an HD set back in 2006 — isn’t “enough” for HD? But the Golf Channel HD is? Really? I’m sick of TWC’s abysmal customer service, their frequent Internet outages and their pixillated HD signals. Unless this is some sort of pissing contest between [HD Net chief Mark] Cuban and Time Warner [Cable], I’m finally switching to DirecTV. Also, clicking on the TWC link above just directs you to a prompt for your local ZIP code — which then dumps you into a generic TWC Web site with no info on channel changes (Mav TV HD — ugh). I really hope the FCC does something — anything — about cable regulation.
