Virgin Goes With Moto For 200-Meg Trials

U.K. Operator Has Deployed Motorola DOCSIS 3.0 CMTS

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/26/2009 11:57:42 AM

U.K. operator Virgin Media has deployed the Motorola cable-modem termination system for its ultra-broadband DOCSIS 3.0 services, including for its current trials of 200-Mbps Internet connections.

Virgin Media is using the Motorola BSR 64000 integrated CMTS solution with TX32 decoupled downstream modules.

"We are delighted to be selected by Virgin Media as it rolls out DOCSIS 3.0-based services, and we look forward to working closely as we head towards the reality of the 200-Mbps home," said Joe Cozzolino, senior vice president and general manager for Motorola's Home & Networks Mobility Europe, Middle East/Africa and Asia-Pacific regions.

Motorola earlier this year announced worldwide shipments of more than 1,000 TX32 decoupled downstream modules.

Motorola's BSR 64000 CMTS solution is CableLabs bronze-qualified for DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS 3.0 specifications.
