Cablevision Dials Up To 24 Phone Lines For Businesses

Optimum Voice Service Marketed To New York-Area Firms With Up To 100 Employees

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 5/27/2009 11:20:41 AM

Cablevision Systems is now offering businesses in its New York-area footprint up to 24 lines of its Optimum Voice phone service, which the operator said will let it market the service to firms with up to 100 employees.

The Optimum Business bundle, which includes voice and Internet access, is $29.95 per month for one year including four lines; each additional Optimum Voice line is available for $29.95 per line. Previously Cablevision's offered up to 12 lines to business customers.

For larger companies, Cablevision's Optimum Lightpath subsidiary recently introduced a hosted service that bundles voice and data together for a single monthly fee, starting at about $3,500 per month for 50 employees.

The Optimum Business services, by contrast, are designed for commercial and small or home-based offices. The packages offer flat-rate pricing, with unlimited calling to the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada and 14 business-calling features, such as voice mail, "find me," rollover hunting and three-way calling.

"With the ability to offer 24 business lines, Optimum Business is addressing a segment of the market that has historically been underserved by legacy phone companies - mid-sized businesses with up to 100 employees," said Joseph Varello, Cablevision's vice president of voice and small and medium business services, in a statement.
