Yankees Strong May Lifts YES

Service Scores Best Start To Baseball Season For New York RSN

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 6/5/2009 9:35:17 AM

With May being a merry month for the Bronx Bombers on the field, YES got off to the highest-rated start ever for a New York regional sports network with baseball.

Through its April and May telecasts, YES averaged a 4.50 household rating in the New York DMA, according to Nielsen Media Research data. That topped the 4.39 mark YES rang up during April and May of the 2008 Major League Baseball season.
YES's 23 Yankees telecasts in May 2009 averaged a 4.81 average TV household rating, the highest-rated May ever for a baseball team on a New York regional sports network, beating YES's 4.69 average for the first two months of the 2006 campaign, and 19% more than its 4.04 average in 2008.
Eight of YES's Yankees telecasts last month garnered a 5.0 average or better, versus just a pair in 2008.
On the demo side, YES scored a 14% increase among men 18 to 34, a 13% advance among men 18 to 49 and 14% growth among men 25 to 54. It also racked up gains of 16% and 19% against persons 18 to 49 and 25 to 54, respectively.
