2.5 Million Households Still Not Receiving DTV Signals
Improvement Of 300,000 Homes Since Last Pre-Transition Update

Nielsen says that as of June 14, 2.5 million households could still not receive a digital signal over-the-air.
That is an improvement of 300,000 homes since its last pre-transition update on June 7.
As such, 2.2% of U.S households are still not DTV-ready.
Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Colo.) introduced a bill earlier this week that would try to help out those folks by subsidizing antennas and extending the DTV-to-analog converter box coupon program, as well as require cable, satelite and telco-video suppliers to offer a $10 basic broadcast package.
As of June 17, the National Telecommunications & Information Administration said there were about 2 million DTV-to-analog converter box coupons that had been requested but not yet mailed out.

When did DeFazio move from Oregon?

DTV Across America estimates that over 5 million households are still struggling to get back to where they were prior to Friday. Nielsen and the FCC count your ability to receive anything after Friday as a success. For real, comprehensive information about reception options go the the DTV Across America website www.DTVAcrossAmerica.com or call their toll-free number 1-800-359-1299 if rescanning your converter box is not enough.

I wonder if Representative Peter DeFazio, while seeking a $10 Basic service requirement from cable companies and other providers, knows about Retransmission Consent costs and the fact that Basic is already price regulated. He must have already called the NAB and extracted promises by them to reduce the burdens the networks have placed on program delivery companies. This wouldn't be a one sided move, right?

with nothing to watch but boring reality shows i can see why people are not going through the trouble of converting to DTV.i spend less than 2 hours a day watching over the air TV,where in the world has all the good TV shows gone?all you ever see is reruns or reality shows.if i ever did get cable or satellite it would be to watch cable network shows and not local network TV shows.
