Time Warner Cable: 4 Million Digital Phone Customers

MSO Claims Its Now Sixth-Largest U.S. Phone Provider

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 6/29/2009 1:04:14 PM

Time Warner Cable announced Monday that it recently signed up its 4 millionth residential Digital Phone subscriber.

The cable operator reported 3.913 million Digital Voice customers as of March 31, up 23% from 3.170 million in the same period in 2008.

"Reaching this milestone is testament to the fact that customers look for communication solutions that are simple and easy," Time Warner Cable CEO Glenn Britt said in a statement. "The combination of having one bill for a bundle of Time Warner Cable products and the inclusion of innovative features such as Caller ID on TV continues to drive the growth and success of this product."

TWC claims it is the sixth-largest phone provider in the U.S. The largest are AT&T, Verizon Communications, Embarq -- which is merging with CenturyTel and plans to change the name of the combined company to CenturyLink  -- Comcast and Qwest Communications International.
