TV One Eyes 'Washington Watch With Roland Martin'

Sunday Morning Weekly Public Affairs Show Set For Sept. 27 Debut

John Eggerton -- Multichannel News, 7/6/2009 10:49:35 AM

TV One is weighing into the Sunday morning weekly public affairs show competition with a new African-American-targetted entry, Washington Watch With Roland Martin.

The one-hour series will feature the CNN analyst and a rotating panel of journalists and others, as well as newsmaker interviews and regular appearances by members of the Congressional Black Caucus, according to TV One.

The series is slated to debut Sept. 27, airing at 11 a.m. and again at 5 p.m.

TV One President and CEO Johnathan Rodgers said in announcing the show that it would not be about "telling our audience what's important," but an interactive conversation about "concerns that drive the agenda on improving the state of Black America."

While the show focuses on issues in the Black community, Rodgers said the goal is to speak to everyone, Democrat or Republican, conservative or liberal, African-American, Hispanic, Caucasian, Asian, Native American, "you name it."

TV One is available to more than 47.5 million households and is part owned by Radio One, Comcast, and DirecTV Group, among others.
