Bravo will hope the third time's even more of a charm with the Nielsens with The Real Housewives of New York City.

The NBC Universal service has ordered a third season of the docuseries from Shed Media U.S. that is scheduled to bow next year. Production for the third campaign commences this fall, with the network currently casting for additional housewives.

During its sophomore season, The Real Housewives of New York City averaged a series best 1.95 million viewers, including 1.44 million adults 18 to 49, according to Nielsen Media Research data. Both the season finale and reunion special for the series posted over 2 million total viewers.
