Clearwire will launch WiMax broadband wireless service in Las Vegas on July 21.
The official debut in Sin City marks Clearwire's fourth market, following launches in Portland, Ore., Baltimore and Atlanta.
Clearwire's majority owner is Sprint Nextel, which owns 51% of the company, with equity stakes held by Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Bright House Networks, Google and Intel. Comcast last week launched High-Speed 2go, a rebranded version of the Clearwire WiMax service, in Portland.
Clearwire said consumers in Las Vegas can already sign up for the WiMax service on its Web site, clear.com.
The Clear service, advertised as providing 4 to 6 Mbps download speeds, starts at $20 per month for fixed residential service and $40 per month for mobile Internet plans. Clearwire offers a one-day day pass for $10.
In Las Vegas, Clearwire plans to host a consumer launch event Tuesday, July 21, at Town Square Mall from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. to demonstrate the service.
