Cablevision Offers Toll-Free Numbers To Businesses
Operator Pitches New, Ported Vanity Numbers To 800, 888, 877, 866 Area Codes

Cablevision Systems is now offering small- and mid-size businesses toll-free numbers, including the ability to port "vanity" numbers to area codes 800, 888, 877 and 866.
The New York-area operator's toll-free service is $9.95 for every block of 250 minutes per monthly billing cycle, which Cablevision claimed is up to 30% less than phone company services for most customers. The calling areas are the same as Optimum Voice, covering the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.
The service lets customers change the toll-free number to point to any Optimum Voice number on their account, as well as access call detail records with information like calling party number, location, date and time.
Cablevision's Optimum Lightpath division, which targets large business customers, has offered switched toll-free service since 2000. Lightpath also launched a toll-free bundle in 2007 as an add-on to the Internet Voice bundle.
