Discovery.com Hooks Long John Silver's

Restaurant Chain Secures Online Schedule For 'Shark Week' Promo

MCN Staff -- Multichannel News, 7/16/2009 9:46:22 AM

Long John Silver's is swimming with sharks -- at least on Discovery.com in conjunction with the programmer's long-running summer stunt.

The restaurant chain has secured banner and skyscraper ads on the Discovery Channel's 'Shark Week' microsite. Touting the 99-cent Baja Fish Tacos offering, the schedule, which started July 15, runs through Aug. 31. Deal terms were not disclosed.

Shark Week is set for Aug. 2 through Aug. 8 on the network, which has also given Long John's Silver association rights to its online Sharkrunners game, wherein users can virtually track the big fish in their natural habitats. Additionally, the chain's branding is integrated within shark-related stuff on the Discovery-owned site HowStuffWorks.com.
