Comcast Rings Up iPhone App
Free App Provides Access To TV Listings, E-mail, Voice Mail, Movie Trailers

Comcast has launched a free application for Apple iPhone and iPod touch devices that provides access to e-mail, voicemail, address book, TV listing and movie trailers.
The 2.2-megabyte mobile app, tailored to the devices' small screens, lets Comcast subscribers check e-mail and voicemail messages in one combined inbox, as well as synchronize their Comcast.net universal address book contacts with their iPhone or iPod touch and add pictures to favorite contacts. Users also can forward Comcast Digital Voice phone calls to their iPhone.
The TV listings feature includes program details going out a week, and the app also lets subscribers watch trailers of movies currently available on Comcast VOD.
Comcast's iPhone app does not currently allow subscribers to manage their DVRs -- a feature offered by DirecTV via its own iPhone app -- but the cable operator expects to include that capability in a future release.
