AT&T has gone to the short game to bring its nationwide HD lineup to at least 110 in all markets.
The telco announced Monday it has added ShortsHD -- which features short films in genres including comedy, action, horror and drama -- to its HD Premium tier, which costs subscribers an additional $5 a month. The package also includes MGM HD, Palladia HD, Smithsonian Channel HD and Universal HD.
ShortsHD is distributed by U.K.-based Shorts International Ltd., which has rights to 3,000 films from 120 international broadcasters. AT&T is the first U.S. affiliate for the channel.
U-verse TV's baseline HD service is included with the U450 programming package; with other packages, AT&T charges $10 a month for HD.
In May, AT&T added six HD channels from MTV Networks, after its high-def channel count topped 100 earlier this year.
Also Monday, AT&T added two ethnic programming channels: Arabic Radio & Television, a channel featuring live sporting events, dramas, news, entertainment and other programming from around the Arab world, for an additional $13 a month; and RAIITALIA, which provides Italian movies and programming about the country's festivals, concerts, soccer games and news, for $13 per month.
