Comcast Colorado Debuts Caller ID On TV, PC

Universal Caller ID Service Available Free to Triple Play Customers

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 7/30/2009 5:19:18 PM

Comcast this week is launching Universal Caller ID in Colorado, offering its triple-play customers in the state the ability to view incoming caller information on their TV or computer screens for no additional charge.

Universal Caller ID displays the caller's name and phone number on a pop-up banner on the TV or computer screen, and the customer can answer the phone or select "exit" to continue watching TV or online activity. Customers also can turn the feature off or set it to snooze. The caller ID on the PC feature can be easily downloaded and installed at www.comcast.net/callerid.

To receive the Universal Caller ID feature, customers must have a triple-play bundle and a digital set-top box that supports the feature.

Other cable operators offer the feature in various markets, including Time Warner Cable, Cablevision Systems, Cox Communications and Suddenlink Communications.

Comcast also touted its recently launched free iPhone app, which lets subscribers check e-mail and voicemail, see TV listings and watch movie trailers of VOD titles. More than 100,000 customers have already downloaded the app.
