Incognito Upgrades For DOCSIS 3.0

Firm's Broadband Command Center 5.5 Provisions Next-Gen Cable Modems

Todd Spangler -- Multichannel News, 8/3/2009 5:07:09 PM

Incognito Software has added support for DOCSIS 3.0 cable-modems to its flagship provisioning suite, Broadband Command Center.

Version 5.5 of Broadband Command Center supports more than two dozen new parameters specified in the CableLabs DOCSIS 3.0 standard, including AES encryption, said Chris Busch, Incognito's vice president of broadband technology.

Two cable operators have already deployed BCC 5.5 and are currently provisioning DOCSIS 3.0 modems, Busch said, declining to name the customers.

Incognito, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, has a deal with Motorola, which resells the BCC software to its own customers. The primary competition for Incognito's software is Cisco Systems' Broadband Access Center for Cable, according to Busch.

The 5.5 release also supports PacketCable 2.0 cable modems, Busch said. Other features include the management of Session Initiation Protocol endpoints, including multimedia terminal adapters, set-top boxes and residential gateways, and the ability to dynamically build configuration files using provisioning proxies.
