Showtime's Monday night duo of Weeds and Nurse Jackie enjoyed their best showings as the calendar turned to August.

The Mary-Louise Parker-starrer Weeds, averaged 1.61 million viewers on Aug. 3, according to Nielsen. The campaign's ninth installment bested its fifth-season opener on June 8.
Nurse Jackie, which stars Edie Falco as a emergency room nurse who balances complicated professional and personal lives against her addictive personality, pulled in 1.36 million watchers on Aug. 3. That made it the most-watched episode in the series history to date, surpassing its June 8 debut.
Showtime ordered a second campaign of Nurse Jackie the day after its opening night.
