Syfy's 'Warehouse 13' Renewed For 13 More Episodes

Hit Series On Pace to Set Freshman Marks For NBCU-Owned Network

by Kent Gibbons -- Multichannel News, 8/20/2009 3:34:57 PM

Syfy has renewed Warehouse 13, saying the dramedy series is on pace to be the most-watched new original series ever at the network.

In summer 2010, the show will return for a 13-episode run, the NBC Universal-owned network said.

Warehouse 13 -- about Secret Service agents operating out of a storage facility in South Dakota,  tasked with finding and collecting powerful paranormal objects -- debuted strongly on July 7, the same date the network changed its name from Sci Fi Channel. The network said it has averaged a 2.9 household rating, 4.02 million total viewers, 1.99 million adults ages 25-54 and 1.57 million adults ages 18-49.

Syfy's best-ever freshman original series, Battlestar Galactica, averaged a 2.4 household rating and 2.86 million viewers over the course of that season.

The show's audience has grown, setting new high marks with the second and fourth telecasts, and three of the episodes are among the network's top five most-watched original series telecasts ever.

The fourth episode, which aired July 28, delivered the most females (1.9 million) of any series telecast in the network's 17 years, it said.

It's produced for Syfy by Universal Cable Productions. Season one is executive produced by Jack Kenny (The Book of Daniel) who also serves as showrunner. David Simkins (Dresden Files) is executive producer; and Stephen Surjik (Monk, Burn Notice) is producer/director.
