Time Warner Cable's division in Corpus Christi, Texas -- facing competition from AT&T's U-verse -- has added 27 high-definition channels available to customers with an HD set-top box, increasing the lineup to 35 HD channels.

The new channels are being added Tuesday, Aug. 25, and are available to customers in Corpus Christi and outlying areas, including Alice, Beeville and Orange Grove, Texas, the operator said.

"By delivering the most HD choices and enhanced HD for free to our digital cable customers, Time Warner Cable reaffirms our position as the pre-eminent multimedia provider," TWC South Texas vice president of communications Gavino Ramos said in a statement.

In June, AT&T launched U-verse TV in parts of the Corpus Christi market, touting a lineup of more than 100 HD channels.

The new HD channels available to Time Warner Cable South Texas customers are: Disney Channel HD, A&E HD, KIII (ABC) HD, ABC Family HD, Bravo HD, ESPNews HD, Lifetime Movies HD, Golf HD, Syfy HD, Versus HD, Animal Planet HD, MLB HD, Travel Channel HD, CNN HD, Food Network HD, Fox News HD, HGTV HD, Weather Channel HD, FSN HD, CNBC HD, History Channel HD, Discovery Channel HD, Hallmark Movies HD, TLC HD, Palladia, Science Channel HD and USA HD.
