Cox Launches MyPrimetime In Las Vegas, San Diego

Pushes ‘TV Anytime' Strategy to Two of Its Biggest Markets

Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 9/3/2009 4:50:45 PM

Cox Communications is giving digital cable customers in Las Vegas and San Diego -- two of the operator's biggest markets -- access to its MyPrimetime service, which delivers on-demand access to top shows within 12 hours of linear broadcast.

The service provides replays of shows, with fast-forwarding disabled to retain ad impressions, from networks including ABC, NBC, Cartoon Network, FX, TBS, AMC, USA Network, Travel Channel, TNT and A&E. Cox is aiming to provide a lineup of 100 shows per week from more than 20 networks starting in October.

MyPrimetime has been available in most of Cox's operating systems including: Orange County, Calif.; New England; Kansas/Arkansas; Arizona; Macon, Ga.; Roanoke, Va.; Tulsa, Okla.; Omaha, Neb.; Santa Barbara, Calif.; Hampton Roads, Va.; and greater Louisiana.

The company said the remaining Cox systems, which include northern Virginia, Cleveland and Oklahoma City, "will launch the service imminently."

"We're excited to near the full rollout of MyPrimetime to all Cox systems so that even more of our customers have the opportunity to view their favorite shows on their schedule," said Bob Nocera, Cox's director of marketing for new video services.

According to Turner Broadcasting System, Cox's MyPrimetime VOD service increased views of eight top shows from TNT, TBS and Cartoon Network by almost 10% within three days of air.
