CBS College Sports Network is expanding its subscriber base in Houston via an upgrade of its Comcast carriage.
The network, channel 106 in the DMA, has been migrated to Comcast's Digital Preferred Level of service from its position on the operator's sports tier.
The move will place CBS College Sports' coverage of college football games, including a number of Conference USA contests featuring Rice University and University of Houston action, before more subscribers.
CBS College Sports kicks off its seventh season of college football with a comprehensive lineup of games and studio shows. The network is scheduled to televise 43 games, all in HD, throughout the 2009 season. In addition to Conference USA pigskin contests, the service will present schools from the Mountain West Conference, as well as Navy, Army and NCAA Division II.
At this juncture, the network plans to air at least five Rice and Houston games this college football season, starting with Tulsa visiting Rice on Oct. 3 at 7:30 p.m.
Also on tap: Navy at Rice on Oct. 10 at 3:30 p.m.; Houston at Tulane on Oct. 17 at 3:30 p.m.; SMU at Houston on Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m.; and Houston at Tulsa on Nov. 7 at 7:30 p.m.
"CBS College Sports Network offers compelling Conference USA programming year-round, and with our increased availability in Houston we're bringing more fans the local sports programming they desire," said CBS College Sports Network executive vice president of distribution Bob Rose. "Comcast appreciates the value of live, local sports action, and has substantially strengthened its digital classic line-up in Houston, a passionate sports market."

Why don't you make the same deal with AT&T Uverse that you did with Comcast? I switched to AT&T only to find out they don't carry CBS College Sports.I'm a Conference USA Houston Cougar season ticket holder and follow the Cougars football and basketball.I'll have to go a relative's house that has Comcast to see the UH vs Tulsa game Saturday Nov.7 instead of my own living room.
