Comcast SportsNet Elevates Franklin To Head California RSNs' Digital Media

Veteran Now Running, CSNBayArea.com, CSNCalifornia.com

Comcast SportsNet has named sports media veteran Jen Franklin to head the digital media supporting its regional sports networks in California.

Franklin, who had been serving as Comcast SportsNet director of marketing and interactive communications, is now senior director of digital media for CSNBayArea.com and CSNCalifornia.com.

Under Franklin, Comcast SportsNet launched CSNBayArea.com in April 2008 and CSNCalifornia.com in April 2009.

The video-rich sites deliver local opinion and commentary and customizable content, and provide a community forum for fans of the San Francisco Giants and 49ers, the Oakland A's and Raiders, the San Jose Sharks, Golden State Warriors, Sacramento Kings, Stanford, Cal, and other local sports institutions.

"Comcast SportsNet has revolutionized the online Northern California sports experience with the creation and continual evolution of CSNBayArea.com and CSNCalifornia.com under Jen's leadership," said Comcast SportsNet vice president and general manager Ted Griggs in a statement. "Jen knows that sports fans seek credible insights into their favorite teams and entertaining sports debate that can only come from authentic local voices. Today's promotion recognizes her success and our ongoing and substantial commitment to serve our audience wherever and whenever sports fans want the latest local sports news."

Franklin, who joined the network in 1998, has received numerous sports media honors and awards, including four Emmy Awards, a Golden Mark Award for marketing excellence and three PROMAX|BDA awards for creativity in promotion and marketing. She oversaw Comcast SportsNet Bay Area's branding and marketing campaign to introduce the network's new identity to Bay Area sports fans last year, including the tagline "Authentic Bay Area Sports."
Franklin also held affiliate sales and on-air promotions positions with the network.
