Delvin Diaz to Receive SCTE Award

Cox Manager Cited for Learning and Development

Delvin Diaz of Cox Communications is the 2009 recipient of the SCTE Excellence in Cable Telecommunications Learning and Development Award.

The annual award, from the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers, recognizes the achievements of learning and development professionals within the cable telecommunications community who have demonstrated significant success toward advancing the careers of others through innovative use of cable telecommunications technology-centric curricula and learning programs.

An SCTE member since 1994, Diaz will receive his award during SCTE Conference on Broadband Learning & Development (CBL&D) 2009, which is set for Tuesday, Oct. 27, in Denver.

Delvin DiazDiaz is manager of learning systems with Cox in Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif. He is responsible for assessing system-wide training needs and proactively addressing organizational development opportunities. Diaz has instituted quality tools and practices that support continuous business improvement. His team is responsible for the delivery of training to meet business objectives in the areas of customer care training, sales training, and advanced technical training. Diaz also serves as the key interface with the corporate National Talent and Development Organization.

Diaz has six professionals on his team, which is dedicated to supporting various levels of technical, sales, and application training needs for the Orange County, Palos Verde, Calif., system and other systems across Cox.

SCTE's CBL&D 2009, sponsored by CommScope, will be conducted in conjunction with SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2009, Oct. 28-30 in Denver.
