Antonio Ballatore wasn't the only winner Sunday night on HGTV Design Star.As Ballatore captured the fourth iteration of the competition series and secure his own show in the new year, HGTV set network marks among households and persons and women 18+ with its Sept. 13 telecast.
The show garnered 2.52 million households, 2.27 million 18+ viewers and 3.03 million persons 18 and above, according to Nielsen Media Research data. All of those were network best with the respective metrics, said network officials. On average, the installment averaged 3.25 million watchers.
During its fourth season, HGTV Design Star recorded its highest-ratings performance overall with persons 25 to 54 (a 1.2 rating) and women 25 to 54 (a 1.6).
For his part, Ballatore, a 40-year-old set designer from Los Angeles, will star in his own HGTV series, beginning in January. This Sunday Sept. 20 at 10 p.m., though, he'll be the star and subject of The Antonio Project. His challenge during the special: to makeover his house in just five days and then show it off to his friends and family.
The special also will include previously unseen footage of his journey to becoming HGTV's newest design star.

I think this was the worst season ever & don't think any of them were worthy of hosting a show based on what they did this season. No one did anything that was really "Wow!" - they were all pretty boring.

We watched Antonios new show and just hated it! This is one show that will not be on our t.v. anymore, it was like watching a decorating show for bikers, what are you thinking! We hope next year you will give the American public the chance to vote as before since we are the people that watch the shows, the judges really made a very bad choice.

I know I'm late with this comment, I agree with everyone else, Dan should have one. His designs were excellent and he listened to the clients. I truly hope HGTV finds a place for him. I won't be watching Antonio.
I think you need to go back and let the public pick who they like!!!!!!!!!! We're the ones watching you.

I was really shocked that Antonio won. I think the designer judges liked his nontraditional, outside-the-box style but I found it almost offensive. I really don't think Antonio has what it takes to be a design star, either as a designer or with his personality. He's too brash for me. I really liked Dan and thought he did an absolutely outstanding job throughout the shows. If you compare Dan to the average designer host, he is far more like them, had outstanding skills and could possibly have made it with a show. No offense, but I believe Antonio will sink like a rock - starting with his own place that looks like a redneck barn. Not interested or appealing!

I agree whole heartedly that Dan should have won and that Vern was lead by the women who thought he was funny. I feel his humor will be short lived. I don't like listening to someone who says yo when starting an introduction. Dan's designs were something I feel I could do. Antonio's last 2 designs were boring and lacking any real design.
