Survey: 23% Of Internet Users Would Pay For 'TV Everywhere'

Findings From The Diffusion Group's 1,300-User Poll Similar Its Previous Study

About 23% of online-video viewers would be willing to pay an extra $10 to $15 per month to access a "TV Everywhere" service that offers access to cable programming on PCs or mobile devices -- while 77% are either uninterested or noncommittal about paying, according to a recent survey.

The survey, which polled 1,300 U.S. Internet users in late August, was conducted by The Diffusion Group (TDG). It was commissioned by Digitalsmiths, a provider of media analysis and video publishing services.

As currently envisioned by Time Warner Inc., Comcast and other industry players, "TV Everywhere" services would be included as part of the monthly TV subscription for no additional charge.

The results were similar to those from a TDG survey in January, which found roughly 28% of broadband users would be willing to pay at least $10 per month for a service that provides linear pay TV content on PCs.

Meanwhile, on the latest survey, about 32% of respondents who view video online at least occasionally said they would be willing to pay studios like Disney or MGM a rental fee of $2 to $3 to view a movie or TV series on PCs or mobile devices.
