Outdoor Channel Introduces New Series Trio

Network Debuts 'Trophy Quest,' 'Jimmy Big Time,' '10 Best'

MCN Staff -- Multichannel News, 10/3/2009 1:10:00 AM

Outdoor Channel is stocking its fourth-quarter programming lineup with a trio of new series.
Trophy Quest and Jimmy Big Time are set to bow on Oct. 3, while the network took the wraps off Outdoor's 10 Best last night.
Outdoor Channel's first scripted comedy, Jimmy Big Time Presented by Polaris, will air Saturdays at 1 p.m. (ET) and 11:30 p.m. The series follows the exploits of Jimmy ‘Big Time' Miller, the self-proclaimed ‘Father of Outdoor Television.' Shot in a mockumentary style, the original series highlights Miller's quest to become the greatest outdoor television host in history.
In Trophy Quest, running Saturdays at 10:30 p.m., host John Wilson of Trophy Quest International will turn the clock back on modern hunting technology and pursue North American big species with a open-sighted, lever action, 30-30 rifle from his childhood. Wilson initiates his quest of the North American 29 -- the 29 animals comprising the Safari Club International's famous North American grand slam, including Alaska-Yukon caribou, American bison, central Canada caribou, coastal or continental black bear, Columbia black-tailed deer, desert mule deer and Rocky Mountain or California bighorn sheep.
As for Outdoor's 10 Best, the show, which will count down the answers to various debates, will run Fridays at 10 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and Sundays at 6:30 p.m.
Hosted by country artist Kristy Lee Cook -- no stranger to top 10s herself as a finalist on season seven of American Idol -- the series aims to inspire hunters and anglers of all skill levels to create their own must-hunt list by addressing such questions as what are the top 10 duck hunter's dream hunts and the 10 best elk destinations in the country.
"Our spectrum of best-in-class programming has been enhanced by this fall's new series - just in time for hunting season," said Outdoor Channel COO Tom Hornish in a statement. "Viewers and advertisers will find this quarter's roster filled with high quality entertainment that speaks directly to their favorite outdoor pursuits."
