Cable-Tec Expo 2009: Aurora Ships NC2000 Optical Node In Americas
Targeted At Cable Operators' MDU, Rural Deployments

Aurora Networks announced that its NC2000 optical node, aimed at cable operator deployments to multidwelling units and low-density rural areas, is now available throughout the Americas.
The NC2000 is designed for "space-constrained areas," able to be mounted on either a pedestal or wall, and supports the same access modules available for Aurora's NC4000 platform. The node features a bottom-entry fiber port and three coaxial output ports, high RF output levels and 2x2 segmentation.
In addition, the NC2000 can be configured as a "mini-hub," to house a fully operational hub in a standard Aurora node housing. It also lets a cable system evolve toward new service deployments such as RF over glass (RFoG) and Gigabit Ethernet PON (GEPON).
The NC2000 "allows operators to significantly increase network capacity in an effort to deliver the latest in-demand services to MDU residents and other customers without incurring major infrastructure construction costs," Aurora vice president of marketing John Dahlquist said.
The NC2000 includes Aurora's integrated monitoring and management system, eliminating the need for separate status-monitoring transponders and the allocation of forward and return bandwidth for the transponder's communicating frequencies.
Aurora will show the NC2000 at SCTE Cable-Tec Expo 2009 Oct. 28-30 in Denver.
