USA Network's latest original series White Collar came out of the gate strongly on Friday night.
The series, starring Matt Bomer and Tim Dekay as a mismatched pair of an art forger and FBI agent, averaged 5.4 million watchers from 10 p.m. to 11:15 p.m. on Oct. 23, according to Nielsen data. That total outpaced a number of recent series launches, including Burn Notice (3.98 million in June 2007) and In Plain Sight (5.23 million in June 2008) and almost matched Royal Pains (5.57 million when it debuted behind the third season of Burn Notice on June 4), according to network officials.
Launching during the earlier stages of the traditional broadcast TV season, White Collar scored a 43% advance over the season premiere of The Starter Wife in the same time slot a year ago, said network officials.
White Collar's bow marked USA's best performance in the time period since February 15, 2008 with Psych and repurposed episode of House.
