NBA Double Dribbles With League Pass Broadband Offering

National, Team Packages Available

Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 10/27/2009 12:51:21 PM

As the National Basketball Association prepares to tip off its 2009-10 regular season tonight, the NBA and Turner Sports's NBA Digital will launch a new and improved NBA League Pass Broadband package which will let consumers choose between accessing online every NBA game live or just those of select teams.

NBA Digital will offer the NBA League Pass Broadband package -- providing more than 40 live games per week -- for $149.95, according to Turner officials. In addition, NBA fans will be able to select up to seven teams to watch throughout the season as part of a new $99.95 NBA league Pass Broadband Choice package. The league is offering a special early-bird pricing through Nov. 3 for League Pass Broadband and Broadband Choice both packages $134.95 and $89.95 respectively.

This marks the first time the league has offered multiple stand-along broadband packages: last year the league offered an $85 stand-alone online package featuring 40 live games a week.

Consumers purchasing the $169 linear NBA League Pass package will also have access to the online package, according to league officials.

Along with the games, both NBA League Pass Broadband packages will offer fans access to new features including a live-game DVR functionality allowing viewers to pause and rewind live action; a full-season archive to view games on-demand; and live home and away audio broadcasts of every game.

Additionally, fans will be able to watch multiple live games at the same time, according to the league.

Globally, the NBA League Pass Broadband International package will be available to more than 200 countries and territories via NBA.com, said the league.

The announcement follows on the heels of the league's offer of a free week-long preview of NBA League Pass.

TNT will launch the NBA regular season tonight with a live doubleheader telecast featuring the Boston Celtics/Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers/Los Angeles Clippers contests.

ESPN will begin its NBA regular season coverage on Wednesday with live coverage of the New Orleans Hornets/ San Antonio Spurs and the Denver Nuggets/Utah Jazz games.
