Fanboy and Chum Chum
(Nickelodeon, Friday, Nov. 6, 9 p.m.)
Animation fans weary of computer-generated efforts may not be bowled over by Nickelodeon’s latest, Fanboy and Chum Chum. But this comedic spin-off from the Nicktoons Network Random! Cartoon anthology series should find a built-in audience among younger viewers who can relate to its main characters’ passion for comic books, magic and pop culture.
For schoolkids Fanboy and his faithful companion Chum Chum, every day is Halloween as they don superhero garb and indulge in pretend heroics. The irony is that they’re blissfully ignorant when faced with real magic (the opener involves a new classmate who actually is a wizard).
Following a primetime bow, the show will join the network’s Saturday morning lineup.
