Mike Reynolds -- Multichannel News, 11/2/2009 1:13:13 PM

Outdoor Channel continued its expansion with Comcast, gaining improved distribution on systems serving subscribers in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Missouri and Kansas.

The network is now available on the top cable operator's Digital Classic tier in Twin Cities and Manitowoc and western Wisconsin, and in the Independence, Mo.-Olathe, Kan. area. The upgrade comes in addition to Outdoor Channel's continued carriage on Comcast's Sport Entertainment Package tier

The service is now available to Comcast's Digital Classic and SEP tier customers on channel 270 in the St. Paul area, Independence and Manitowoc. Minneapolis area viewers can watch Outdoor Channel on channel 731.

"These markets are home to many Comcast customers who are passionate outdoor enthusiasts," said Randy Brown, senior vice president of affiliate sales and marketing, in a statement. "Now, they can easily enjoy our high quality, category-leading hunting, fishing, shooting, and other outdoor-related programming."

Noted Comcast vice president of public affairs Mary Beth Schubert: "Outdoor Channel is great addition for our customers. Our region has a strong affinity for the outdoors, and we are pleased to make Outdoor Channel's top-notch content more widely available to viewers."
