MCN Review: The Prisoner

Debuts on AMC Nov. 15 at  8 p.m.

by R. Thomas Umstead -- Multichannel News, 11/15/2009 8:19:00 AM

AMC moves its original-series production from the world of drama into the realm of science fiction with its miniseries The Prisoner.

A takeoff on the classic 1960s British series of the same name, The Prisoner stars Jim Caviezel (The Passion of the Christ) as Six, a man who awakes in a desert with no idea where he is or how he got there.

He stumbles onto a dwelling known as "The Village," where inhabitants are known only by numbers and also have no recollection of their past.

MCN Hot Spot: AMC

Ian McKellen (X-Men, Lord of the Rings) plays Two, the overseer of The Village and Six's primary opposition.

Driven by a quest to understand what's happened to him - as well as a desire to escape - he sets out to uncover the mysteries of The Village.

AMC's take is an acceptable remake but won't make anyone forget about the original.
