AT&T has launched caller ID on TV for customers in its Austin market who have both U-verse TV and U-verse Voice, and the telco introduced "offers on demand," an app that lets viewers redeem coupon codes on-screen for discounts on movie rentals.

AT&T Caller ID on TVAT&T's caller ID on TV displays a small message on the TV for six seconds when a new call comes in or when a voicemail message is received. The feature already is widely offered by several cable operators, including Comcast, Time Warner Cable, Cox Communications and Cablevision Systems.

Currently AT&T offers the app to U-verse TV and Voice customers in Austin, and will be rolling out on a market-by-market basis to all U-verse markets. Customers of both services already have the ability to view a log of recent incoming calls on TV screen, as well as initiate a call from the TV with "click-to-call."

The VOD-coupon application lets U-verse TV customers redeem coupons for movies from their TV. AT&T said the first coupon code will be available next Monday, Nov. 23, on the service's channel 200, at http://uconnect.att.com and in the monthly U-guide magazine.

In addition, AT&T is offering ESPN Full Court Multiview to subscribers who pay for the premium college basketball package, letting hoops fans view four channels of ESPN's college basketball coverage at one time on channels 4500 and 621. The telco is offering early-bird pricing of $105 online at http://uverse.att.com through Nov. 28.

All told, U-verse TV now providers 20 apps available for no extra charge, including: Multiview, an app that lets you watch up to four channels at once on your TV screen; Media Share, which lets users stream personal photos and music files from a PC; U-bar, which provides access to personalized sports, weather, stock and traffic information; and Yahoo Sports Fantasy Football.
